Take a breath
You did the right thing by stopping to check.
Most scary messages are fakes designed to rush you. Until you know more:
- Don't click links, open attachments, or call numbers in the message.
- Don't pay anything or buy gift cards — real companies never ask for that.
- Don't share passwords, PINs, or codes sent to your phone.
- If it claims to be your bank, call the number on the back of your card instead.
